WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced today the appointment of General Dale Lyles, Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard (Ret.), as Chair of Indiana’s 9th Congressional District Military Academy Nomination Boards and as a member of the United States Military Academy (West Point) Nomination Panel.
“General Lyles has dedicated his life to service, and I’m proud to have him lead our military academy nomination process,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “His decades of military experience, leadership, and deep understanding of what it takes to lead at the highest levels of service will be an incredible asset in this role. I know that General Lyles will help identify and guide the next generation of leaders who will proudly represent Indiana and our country in uniform.”
General Lyles will oversee the selection process for students seeking nominations to the U.S. service academies, including West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy. The nomination boards are tasked with reviewing applications and making recommendations to Congresswoman Houchin as she selects candidates to nominate to the academies.
“I’m honored to support Congresswoman Houchin and serve the young men and women of Southern Indiana who are pursuing military service,” said General Lyles. “This is an opportunity to help shape the future of our armed forces by identifying candidates of integrity, character, and commitment.”
