TOMORROW: Congresswoman Erin Houchin to Visit Southern Border a Second Time
WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, January 3, Congresswoman Erin Houchin (R-Ind.-09) will join Speaker Mike Johnson, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and other House Republicans on a trip to Eagle Pass, Texas to visit the border.
The trip occurs as Americans and cities across the country continue to face the consequences of President Biden’s out-of-control border crisis. Over 300,000 illegal migrants were apprehended in December alone, the highest month on record for border encounters.
“I made it a point to visit our southern border during the first few months of my term. Now, within a year later, I’m traveling back with House Republicans to show the country what the Biden Administration won’t – the border crisis hasn’t gotten better, but far worse. We will not let this crisis continue to be ignored by the administration and will do our part to shine light on it, no matter how many visits to the border it takes,” said Congresswoman Erin Houchin.
In March, Congresswoman Houchin visited with border patrol agents and local officials in Uvalde and Eagle Pass, Texas. In May, Congresswoman Houchin voted to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, out of the House of Representatives, only for it to receive no consideration from the United States Senate. The White House has been silent on the passage of H.R. 2 and has ignored calls from House Republicans to close the border and address the crisis.
